The PPGBQA congratulates Dr. Caio Massari for the “Honorable Mention” at the Purines 2021 congress – X Meeting of the Brazilian Purine Club. Dr. Caio Massari finished hisPh.D. in 2020 at PPGBQA and is currently doing post-doctoral research under the supervision of Profa. Dr. Carla Tasca. His work confirmed the protective effect of nucleoside guanosine in a model of 6-hydroxydopamine administration in striatal slices, and highlighted adenosine A1 and A2a receptor dimers as possible targets for guanosine. The scientific results can be found in the article “Adenosine A 1 and A 2A receptors are involved on guanosine protective effects against oxidative burst and mitochondrial dysfunction induced by 6-OHDA in striatal slices” .
