Prof. Silva holds an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from the Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC), a master’s degree in Biochemistry from the Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC), and a doctoral degree in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry) from the Universidade de São Paulo. He carried out postdoctoral research in the Department of Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Bath, England.

“His research is focused on insect biochemistry and molecular biology, working mainly on the digestion of Insects and Crustaceans, Coleoptera, Bruchinae, Hemiptera, Lepidoptera, Decapoda, Entomophagy and Pest Control”
